In the early months of 2018, Jonathan began taking his weekly laundry to a laundromat in the New Dorp section of Staten Island. One Saturday morning, while dropping off his laundry, Jonathan began talking to a cute girl with glasses working behind the counter.  Jonathan began to make a point to drop his laundry off on the same day and time each week, in order to see the special girl, Theresa. 

In May 2018, Jonathan extended several dinner invites to Theresa, who kept declining. Then on June 9, 2018, they went on their first date, spending an afternoon at TopGolf and finishing the day with a walk along the boardwalk from Asbury Park to Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ. Though Theresa emphasized that this was specifically NOT a date, and Jonathan agreed, they've spent the last five years together sharing loads of adventures, while making memories to last a lifetime. 

That, at least, is how they formally met. The reality is that Jonathan and Theresa almost certainly met years earlier, without knowing it. You know those couples where it seems like God did all He could to bring them together? That's them! Both growing up in New Dorp, they spent years and years going to the same events at the New Dorp library, the same beach celebrations and the same kids stores. Their paths kept crossing, and they likely met, without even knowing they'd eventually be where they are today .

Three years to the day after their first "not-date," Theresa and Jonathan traveled to Stowe, Vermont, for a weeklong stay at the Trapp Family Lodge. (If you're thinking of the Von Trapp family from Sound of Music, you'd be correct.)

Theresa was excited about the trip to begin with, as she is a lifelong Sound of Music fan, but what she didn't know was that en route to the pool, with the beautiful mountains of Stowe in the background,  Jonathan would stop her near a pond (ask us about the frogs one day!), get down on one knee, and ask her to marry him. Of course she said yes!
